“Dynami Charas” program
In 2024, we demonstrated practically&nbsp;that a significant priority of our social action involves children and adolescents. Therefore, in collaboration with the&nbsp;100% Greek company MEGA, we designed and undertook a significant initiative,&nbsp;titled “Dynami Charas”.&nbsp;Our goal is to responsibly and sensitively implement a comprehensive program covering psychological support services, occupational therapy, and speech therapy for the girls of the "Stegi Agias Annas" Foundation on an annual basis. Specifically, within the framework of the “Dynami Charas”&nbsp;program, we cover the cost of learning support for girls with learning (and other) difficulties through the prognosis and restoration of speech, language, communication, learning, organization, and execution disorders, handwriting, reading, play, and social skills. Simultaneously, through the program, we cover the annual cost of psychological support for the Foundation's girls (aged 4-18), aiming to contribute as much as possible to their smooth psychosomatic development. The program is exclusively hosted at Thanopoulos supermarkets, and the first phase has already been completed (7/12/2023 - 10/01/2024). The transitional accommodation structure "Christian Shelter for Girls Agia Anna" was founded in 1972. It is a non-profit child protection foundation and a secondary social care service provider. To date, it has provided accommodation to more than 500 girls.

We systematically collect products for vulnerable groups, placing baskets with special indicators in our stores. Additionally, we participate in additional actions of the organization, such as supporting earthquake victims in Turkey in 2023 and Crete in 2021, as well as supporting children whose families struggle to afford school supplies (back-to-school action).&nbsp;

In recent years, we have offered products from the "Make a Wish" organization with the aim of raising funds to support their activities. We are the first supermarket in Attica to sell the Wish Star in our stores (both physical and online). In our stores, customers can find seasonal items from "Make a Wish," such as summer items, bracelets, Easter products, etc.&nbsp;

Pocket Park Creation in Kifisia
What are pocket parks? They are small green spaces created in undeveloped areas within city neighborhoods.
And why are they important? Because they significantly contribute to the enhancement of the urban landscape where they are created and improve the quality of life for residents.
This is what we envisioned for Kifisia: for the residents of the area to enjoy as much greenery as possible, just a breath away from their homes.
Thus, at prominent points on Trikoupi and Levidou streets, we, together with the "Organization Earth" and P&amp;G (as part of the "Creating Pocket Parks - Making Our Cities More Sustainable" program), created the first pocket park in Kifisia: an environmentally sustainable park perfectly tailored to the characteristics of the area, covering an area of 460 sq.m.
Our creation features more than 580 plants harmonizing with the natural environment of the area, bicycle ramps, autonomous photovoltaic systems, a fountain, benches, etc., and manages to be a real "green" oasis of oxygen, freshness, peace, and relaxation for the area's residents.

Pocket Park Creation in Kifisia

Assistance to Flood-Affected Areas in Thessaly
On September 22th and 24th , 2023, we supported the humanitarian aid convoy to our fellow citizens affected by floods in Thessaly in cooperation with the Elite Special Task Force (EPOMEA), providing essential items such as paper products, gloves, and cleaners. At the same time, we collaborated with Dixons-Kotsovolos, providing complete cleaning sets to 180 families to safely return to their homes.
Relief for Areas Affected by Fires
In August 2021, we actively provided assistance to the affected area of Varybobi, through the Red Cross, &nbsp;and supported the firefighters by providing products. Additionally, we participated in the initiative by VIANEX for the reconstruction and reforestation of the area. Similarly, we stood in complete solidarity and humanity with fire-affected families in Pallini and Penteli, sending first aid products.
As part of Corporate Social Responsibility, other significant solidarity actions (product donations, fundraising) of D. Thanopoulos S.A. include collaboration with:
• The church for the soup kitchens of the Municipality of Athens

Οι 100% ελληνικές εταιρείες ΜΕΓΑ και Δ.ΘΑΝΟΠΟΥΛΟΣ στέκονται υπεύθυνα δίπλα στα παιδιά που έχουν ανάγκη, με την έναρξη μιας νέας κοινωνικής πρωτοβουλίας, με τίτλο: «Δύναμη Χαράς». Σε συνέχεια της ετήσιας κάλυψης του 2024, το πρόγραμμα συνεχίζει επιπλέον την ετήσια κάλυψη και για το 2025 υπηρεσιών ψυχολογικής υποστήριξης και θεραπειών (λογοθεραπείας / εργοθεραπείας) των κοριτσιών του Ιδρύματος Στέγη Αγίας Άννας.
Το πρόγραμμα «Δύναμη Χαράς» συνεχίζει να έχει ως κύριο στόχο την Αξιολόγηση, την Πρόγνωση και την Αποκατάσταση διαταραχών Λόγου, Ομιλίας, Επικοινωνίας, Μάθησης, Οργάνωσης και Εκτέλεσης καθημερινών δραστηριοτήτων, Κίνησης, Γραφής, Ανάγνωσης, Παιχνιδιού και Κοινωνικών Δεξιοτήτων των κοριτσιών που το χρειάζονται. Επιπλέον, επειδή εξίσου σημαντική με τη σωματική υγεία καθίσταται και η ψυχοκοινωνική τους υγεία, το πρόγραμμα καλύπτει για 2η συνεχόμενη χρονιά το ετήσιο κόστος των συνεδριών ψυχολογικής στήριξης των κοριτσιών που το χρειάζονται, με στόχο την ομαλή ψυχοσωματική ανάπτυξή τους.
Η ενέργεια εντάσσεται στο συνολικό πρόγραμμα Εταιρικής Υπευθυνότητας της ΜΕΓΑ «Πράξεις Φροντίδας» για την Κοινωνία.
Το πρόγραμμα φιλοξενείται αποκλειστικά στα καταστήματα supermarket ΘΑΝΟΠΟΥΛΟΣ, ενώ ήδη ολοκληρώθηκε η πρώτη φάση η οποία πραγματοποιήθηκε το 2024 και θα συνεχίσει κατά τη διάρκεια του 2025.
Περιγραφή οργάνωσης
Η Χριστιανική Στέγη Κοριτσιού Αγία Άννα ανοίγοντας τις πύλες της το 1972, μετράει σήμερα περισσότερα από 50 χρόνια λειτουργίας και όπως τότε έτσι και σήμερα, στεγάζεται στη Ν. Κηφισιά-Αττικής στην οδό Ανοίξεως 24. Ξεκίνησε από το όραμα δύο γυναικών να χαρίσουν στήριξη σε παιδιά που έχουν ανάγκη, εντός ενός προστατευμένου περιβάλλοντος με οικογενειακή ατμόσφαιρα. Ως ίδρυμα παιδικής προστασίας, αποτελεί φορέα παροχής υπηρεσιών Δευτεροβάθμιας Κοινωνικής Φροντίδας και διατηρεί μη κερδοσκοπικό χαρακτήρα.
Πρόκειται για μία μεταβατική δομή φιλοξενίας κοριτσιών που μέχρι σήμερα έχει προσφέρει φιλοξενία σε περισσότερα από 500 κορίτσια ηλικίας 4 έως 18 ετών.
Πέρα από στέγη, στα παιδιά προσφέρεται επίσης ενδιαίτηση, ιατροφαρμακευτική περίθαλψη, εκπαίδευση και ψυχολογική στήριξη.
Τη λειτουργία του στηρίζει μία πενταμελής άμισθη διοίκηση, ένα 8μελές έμμισθο προσωπικό και ένα σύνολο εθελοντών που με την ανιδιοτελή προσφορά τους στηρίζουν το έργο της Δομής σε όλα τα βήματά της.

We have developed a comprehensive approach to better serve our customers on the autism spectrum by:
- Introducing quiet zones on a daily basis, from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm, where lighting and noise levels are reduced to create a calm shopping environment.&nbsp;
- Providing social stories to help visitors prepare for their visit&nbsp;

We are in Athens, between 1870-1889. The industry begins to develop, and amid the overall economic prosperity, more and more businesses related to food, start to emerge. At the same time, a new class of consumers is born and established here, in the capital of Greece. The demand for quality products is constantly increasing.

Existing businesses struggle to meet the new demands of consumers. Market conditions in Athens are challenging. In 1877, commercial enterprises are still housed in the stalls of the old Market. It was even said that from the unpleasant smell and poor sanitary conditions, you could tell you were near a grocery store or a butcher’s shop.

Panagiotis Thanopoulos's first steps: a breath of change

A hard-working and ambitious young man from the village of Magouliana in Arcadia will come to change the facts. In 1866, at the age of 14, Panagiotis Thanopoulos was in Athens, working in the grocery store of Christos Karalis, somewhere on Akademias Street. The young apprentice learns everything about the operation of the business and works diligently with great dedication. He soon becomes a partner of Christos Karalis.&nbsp;&nbsp;
In 1877 the 25-year-old merchant decides to open his own shop in a good district of the centre "somewhere in Varvakeios, on Aeolou Street".&nbsp;
This daring venture was destined to be accompanied by significant innovations in customer behaviour, product promotion, hygiene and the aesthetics of the premises and its employees. With extroversion and insight, P. Thanopoulos escapes the constraints of domestic reality and sets high standards: modern commercial enterprises of Europe become a model for the development of his business.

During those years in Athens, the differences between social classes were reflected in consumption habits. In the lower classes the phenomenon of self-consumption is observed, meaning people primarily consume products they produce themselves. As we move upwards, we encounter consumers seeking high-quality everyday items or even more refined products, such as delicacies from Eastern or high European cuisine.
Thanopoulos' shop aims and succeeds in meeting every need. With an enormous variety for the era (more than 1,000 items on its shelves), it stands out compared to its competitive stores and offers exquisite, luxurious products, as well as consistently high-quality everyday items for all budgets.

In July 1902 a massive fire destroys an entire city block in the commercial centre of Athens. Along with it, Thanopoulos' grocery store is destroyed, but it would be rebuilt, shaping a new architectural perception of commercial space with modern elements in structure and mode of operation. In other words... the devastating fire not only did not close down Thanopoulos' business, but became an opportunity for renewal, evolution, and modernization.
In the post-fire era, the business continued with small, invigorating "revolutions" in the industry. Thanopoulos was the one to dare to hire women for the first time in retail sales in Greece, at a time when women's work was still considered unusual. Additionally, he introduced the absolute innovation of "delivery" with modern cars when home delivery was still done with carts and donkeys.

Second generation of insight &amp; innovation&nbsp;

1902

The ambitious and visionary Panagiotis is succeeded by his son (1923), Pantelis Thanopoulos, who continues the innovations, maintains the extroverted profile, and also aims to reach the standards of similar businesses abroad. With this purpose, he closely followed the developments in this specific market in various other countries, collaborates with the Romanoff brothers for the production and trade of confectionery products and divides the store into sections (fish shop, butcher's shop, etc.).&nbsp;This is how the first diversified delicatessen in Athens will be created, while in 1931 we already find Thanopoulos' store at the corner of 98 Aeolou Street and Stadiou Street, in Hauhtea.&nbsp;
During the years of the Occupation, the store operates under the supervision initially of the Italians and later of the Germans.

In the 1960s and 1970s, Thanopoulos made significant strides in the retail industry by establishing the first super market in Greece. The pivotal year was 1963, marked by the creation of the company Thanopoulos Self Service SA.
By 1972, the five sons of Pantelis Thanopoulos had successfully developed a chain of 16 self-service stores. D. Thanopoulos proudly expressed, "We were bold; we were the first to create private label products, we introduced computerization in the operation of the company, and we established the self-service system for the first time in Greece." In this innovative business model, grounded in a commitment to quality, variety, and personalized customer service, "Thanopoulos" consistently led the way and outshone its competitors. The company's unwavering faith in these principles allowed it to pioneer advancements in the industry, contributing to its ongoing success.

The year 1980 is a pivotal moment in the company's history: Dimitrios Thanopoulos, one of the five siblings of the third generation of Thanopoulos, anticipating the rapid residential development in the Northern Suburbs, opens the first store in Nea Kifisia Square under the name "Dimitrios Thanopoulos S.A." Quickly, this modern, comfortable Super Market with an impressive variety of products gains the trust and preference of customers. In 1996, another one opens, opposite the Kifisia ISAP station.
Following are the fourth generation Thanopoulos, Telis, and Periklis, who, steadfast in the values and ideals of the business, continue the family tradition, connecting it with modern consumer needs and the dominance of technology. Their significant priority is to provide proper service to as many customers as possible in functional and aesthetically pleasing spaces. For this reason, the Thanopoulos supermarket repeatedly renovates its stores and will open another one in Nea Erythraia.

Παράλληλα, οι συνθήκες φωτισμού και μουσικής αλλάζουν και προσαρμόζονται στις δικές τους αισθητηριακές ανάγκες, καθημερινά το δίωρο 15:00 – 17:00. Ιδιαίτερη έμφαση δόθηκε στην εκπαίδευση του προσωπικού, το οποίο πλέον είναι σε θέση να κατανοεί και να εξυπηρετεί τις συγκεκριμένες ανάγκες των νευροδιαφορετικών επισκεπτών, εξασφαλίζοντας μια εμπειρία χωρίς άγχος και εμπόδια.
